The Butler softball, tennis, lacrosse and baseball teams received a huge boost in 1997 when the Butler Athletic Department constructed a Teflon roof over four of the school's outdoor tennis courts.

"The Bubble" allows the Butler teams to practice in live situations earlier in the preseason. The spacious facility is 200 feet long, allowing for practice set-up that a normal gymnasium setting would not allow.

The heated facility is used primarily by the teams from mid-January through February. Teams are usually on their respective fields by mid-February, but indoor workouts make those outdoor practices even more productive when weather improves. "The Bubble" is also utilized on rainy days in the spring and for winter camps.

"The Bubble" includes space for a variety of drills that could not necessarily be performed in a normal gym. An inflatable batting cage allows for live swings for softball and baseball teams, while pitchers have plenty of room to complete their workouts. There is also more than enough room for infielder and outfielders alike to stretch out their arms during fielding drills.

The lacrosse team also benefits from the room that "The Bubble" has to offer, as the Bulldogs are able to simulate game-like situations before stepping foot on the field.
