Karen Weatherington Accepts Head Coaching Position At Kennesaw State

March 4, 2009

Indianapolis, Ind. - Karen Weatherington, who recently finished up her fourth season as associate head coach of the Butler volleyball team and sixth with the program, has been named the new head coach at Kennesaw State. The university made the announcement earlier this week.

"We have enjoyed much success throughout Karen's tenure here at Butler and wish her the very best in her first head coaching position," Butler head coach Sharon Clark said. "She will be missed by the team, but we are all excited for her and her family on their new adventure at Kennesaw State University".

Weatherington concluded her sixth season with the Bulldogs in 2008, beginning as an assistant coach in 2003 before being promoted to associate head coach for the 2005 campaign. She coached and trained some of the Horizon League's top middle blockers during her tenure while serving as Clark's top aide and recruiting coordinator.

During Weatherington's six seasons overseeing the middle blockers, the Bulldogs finished in the top three in the conference in blocks per game each season, including as the league-leader in 2006.

Weatherington begins her duties with the Owls this week.
