Milwaukee Sneaks Past Bulldogs In Regular Season Finale

Nov. 10, 2007

Box Score

Indianapolis, Ind. - Senior Michelle DeGeeter put together a strong Senior Day performance, notching her 12th double-double of the year, but the Bulldogs were unable to hold on to late-game leads in the first two contests as visiting Milwaukee claimed a 31-29, 30-28, 30-22 decision at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday (Nov. 10) afternoon.

The Bulldogs had the Panthers on the ropes for most of the night, as Butler out-hit Milwaukee .239 to .238 in the opener and .289 to .208 in the second game.

Butler trailed by as much as five points at 22-17 late in the first game before rallying on a 10-5 run to set up game point at 29-27. Crucial errors down the stretch, however, would prove costly to the Bulldogs in the end, as the Panthers claimed the next three points for the early 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an 8-3 lead to start the second game and held off several charges from the Panthers to position themselves just two points from tying the match at 28-27. Milwaukee would answer again, however, earning three-straight kills to take a 2-0 edge into the break.

A closely contested third game turned the way of the Panthers midway through, as a 9-2 run put Milwaukee ahead for good and secured the match.

DeGeeter, who tallied her second triple-double of the season in defeating Green Bay on Nov. 9, added another strong performance with team-leading 15 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Porshia Allen added 11 kills of her own, while freshmen Katie Daprile (11) and Jessica Wolfe (10) chipped in double-figure dig totals.
