Butler Falls Short At UIC, 5-2

April 19, 2008

Results

Chicago, Ill. - Senior Michelle Hawes extended her team-best singles winning streak to 10, but the Bulldogs would be unable to overcome host UIC, as the Flames scored a 5-2 decision over Butler on Saturday (April 19).

Hawes worked a strong two-set victory over Jenna Reisch at No. 6 singles, tallying a 6-3, 6-3 win. Fellow senior Tiffany McLoughlin added a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 5 singles over Amy Jellish.

The effort would not be enough, however, as the Flames scored singles wins in the top four spots after securing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.

Sophomores Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins registered an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles over Grace Gill-Morliss and Ulrikke Von Ubisch.

The Horizon League Championship begins on Friday (April 25) at the North Central High School tennis courts.
