Amy Hyerczyk Named To All-Horizon League Team

May 8, 2008

Butler senior Amy Hyerczyk was named first All-Horizon League at the 2008 Horizon League Softball Championship banquet, held in Chicago, Ill., on Wednesday (May 7). The Bulldogs' first baseman was the lone Butler player named to the all-league squad, chosen by league coaches.

Hyerczyk leads the Bulldogs and ranks seventh in the Horizon League in hitting with a .365 batting average. She also ranks among the league leaders in hits (50), on-base percentage (.4460, walks (17) and putouts (234). She boasts a .993 fielding percentage, best among Butler players with at least 35 chances.

Butler's all-time leader in hits, Hyerczyk earned all-league recognition for the third consecutive year. She was a first team all-league player in 2006, and she was named second team all-league last season. She's just the third Butler softball player to earn first team all-league recognition twice.

Butler begins play in the Horizon League Softball Championship against Green Bay on Thursday (May 8).
