Butler Defeats DePauw In Golf Dual Match

Butler, paced by freshman Molly Fields, defeated DePauw, 314-323, in a dual match at Highland Country Club on Thursday, April 3. The two Indiana schools were meeting as competitors in the annual Big Four Tournament.

Fields shot a four-over-par 74 to lead the field. She jumped to a lead with a match-best 36 on the front nine and then closed with a 38 on the back nine. The first-year Butler player finished one stroke ahead of teammate and runner-up Paige McCracken. After opening with a 40 on the front nine, McCracken closed with a match-best, even-par 35 on the back nine.

Senior Lynnsey Showers carded an 82, while senior Niki Garden and junior Lauren Showers each shot an 83 to round out Butler's scoring team. Freshman Allison Lipps shot an 83, freshman Marcy Moreman carded an 87 and freshman Nicole Simon posted a 90, as non-scoring individuals.
