Butler Men's Tennis Team Claims 5-2 Win Over Bradley

PEORIA, ILL. - The Butler men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 5-2 victory against nonconference foe Bradley on Saturday (Mar. 1). The win improves the Bulldogs' record to 7-5 on the season. Butler captured the doubles point as Andrew Bartish and Peter Voelz picked up an 8-1 win over Paul Craigen and Scott Roebuck in the No. 2 position and Aubrey Annan and Scott Newmark defeated Mark Muskievicz and Marijan Panzic 8-5 in in the No. 3 spot. Kevin Gill, who normally teams up with brother Brandon in No. 1 doubles, was paired with Mike Weaver and fell to Marko Marevic and Radek Guzik 8-5. Brandon Gill has been suffering back spasms, forcing him to be sidelined during the match. Kevin Gill got the Bulldogs off to a good start in singles action, posting a 7-6, 6-4 win over Marevic at the No. 1 spot. Newmark defeated Guzik 7-6 (6), 6-4 at No. 3, Bartish recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win over Panzic at No. 5 and Bordow rounded out Butler's scoring with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Roebuck at the No. 6 position. Butler's only two losses in singles were Voelz losing to Craigen (6-3, 5-7, 10-4) at the No. 2 spot and Annan's 6-4, 6-3 loss to Muskievicz at No. 4
The Bulldogs will look for their fourth straight win on Monday (Mar. 10) when Butler takes on James Madison on the road.
