David Costa is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Butler men's soccer team. He serves as the Bulldogs' recruiting coordinator, while assisting head coach Kelly Findley in all areas of the program.

Costa joined Butler's staff in 2006 after spending one season as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In addition to his soccer coaching duties at Charlotte, Costa served as Community Services Coordinator in the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Academic Center. He also served as a Soccer Trainer/Game Coach for the Charlotte United Futbol Club, 2004-06.

Costa was a four-year varsity soccer player at Charlotte, 2000-03, during the time that Findley was serving as an assistant coach for the 49ers. He played in 42 matches during his collegiate career, and he received the David Schlee Memorial Award for determination and desire to succeed as a member of the men's soccer program. In his senior season, Costa helped the 49ers reach the finals of the Conference USA Men's Soccer Championship for just the second time in school history. During his tenure on the men's soccer team, Costa assisted with the NCAA-sponsored Youth Education through Sports (YES) clinic three times.

In addition to his coaching duties at Butler, Costa serves as the head coach for the U-15/16 Carmel United team in Carmel, Ind. Last summer, he guided Carmel United to the 2008 U. S. Soccer Development Academy Finals Week U-15/16 Championship at the U. S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif. His team finished the summer season with a 25-2-7 record, including four consecutive victories in California to claim the national title.

Costa earned B.A. degrees in psychology and history in 2004 and a Master's Degree in Liberal Studies from Charlotte in 2005.
