Butler Falls At Dayton, 61-0

Quarterback Kevin Hoyng passed for 227 yards and two touchdowns to lead host Dayton to a 61-0 victory over Butler in a Pioneer Football League game on Saturday, Nov. 3. The win boosted the top-ranked Flyers to 9-1 on the season and 5-1 in league play. Butler fell to 4-6 overall and 0-6 in the PFL.

Hoyng threw both of his touchdown passes in the first half, while leading Dayton to a 41-0 halftime lead. He also ran for a 28-yard touchdown in the victory.

Butler managed just 69 yards in total offense against the aggressive Dayton defense. Quarterback Matt Kobli, getting his first collegiate start, passed for 66 yards, while tailback Derek North rushed for 32 yards for the Bulldogs. Wide receiver Dan Bohrer caught four passes for 44 yards.

Sophomore Derek Guggenberger matched his career-high in tackles with 11, while sophomore Jacob Fritz added 10 stops. Fritz has had 21 tackles in his last two games.

Butler will close out the regular season at Jacksonville (Fla.) on Saturday, Nov. 10.
