Indianapolis, Ind. - Eight Butler student-athletes have been named to the 2008-09 Winter Academic All-Horizon League Teams, the conference office announced on Wednesday (April 29) afternoon. Two Bulldog men's basketball players, three women's swimmers and three men's indoor track athletes were mentioned among the 76 honorees.

Sophomore men's basketball players Zach Hahn and Matt Howard were both named to the five-member squad for the first time. Hahn touts a 3.648 grade point average in secondary education, while Howard - a 2009 CoSIDA Academic All-American - boasts a 3.727 GPA in finance.

A trio of Butler athletes made the cut on the 16-member academic all-league women's swimming team, including two repeat honorees. Senior Sarah Lynne Gates, a pharmacy major, made her third appearance on the team with a 3.771 cumulative GPA, while senior Katie Krueger, a criminology and psychology major with a 3.835 GPA, earned her second mention. Sophomore Leigh Weston, meanwhile, received her first bid after boasting a 3.736 GPA as a chemistry major.
