Butler To Play South Alabama As No. 7 Seed In NCAA Tournament

March 16, 2008

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Butler men's basketball team will enter the 2008 NCAA Tournament as a No. 7 seed in the East Regional and will take on 10th-seeded South Alabama in Birmingham, Ala., on Friday (March 21).

The Bulldogs (29-3) will face the Jaguars (26-6), who fell in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on March 10. The winner of the game will advance to play either No. 2 seed Tennessee or No. 15 American.

Butler enters the NCAA Tournament after claiming both the Horizon League regular season and tournament championships. It is the second-straight appearance in the tourney for the Bulldogs, who began the 2007 tournament as a No. 5 seed before defeating both Old Dominion and Maryland to reach the "Sweet 16."
