Jeff Albert Signs Baseball Contract With Washington Wild Thing
Aug. 13, 2003
Recently-graduated Butler infielder Jeff Albert has signed a minor league contract to play for the Washington Wild Thing of the independent Frontier League. He's the third Butler baseball player to sign a Frontier League contract this year.
Albert, a second team All-Horizon League infielder in 2001, closed out a two-year Butler career last spring with a .284 career batting average and 10 career home runs. He started 47 games in 2002 and led the Bulldogs in runs batted in with 34. The third baseman helped Butler to a school-record 34 wins in each of his two seasons.
Albert is the 15th Butler player to sign a professional baseball contract in the past 12 years. Earlier this summer, his former teammates Aaron Phillips and Tim Marks joined the Richmond Roosters of the Frontier League.
