Coach Farley on Sokolowski: "Matt got stronger as the year went on last year. He throws consistent strikes and has good command of three pitches. We need quality innings from some of the lefty pitchers on our staff, and Matt wants to step up and be one of those guys this spring. He's coming off of a good summer pitching for the Kelowna Falcons." 2007: Came out of the bullpen in all but one of his 15 appearances...earned his first collegiate win at Xavier (5/16), yielding an unearned run on four hits while striking out two in 7.0 innings...allowed just one hit in 2.0 innings of relief against Indiana State (4/5)...struck out two and gave up an unearned run in 2.2 innings at Youngstown State (4/28)...2006: Started in seven of 17 games as a freshman...fourth on the team with 59.0 innings pitched...yielded two earned runs on six hits in six innings at Vanderbilt (3/15)...allowed one earned run in five innings against Wright State in the Horizon League Championship (5/27)...High School: Honorable mention all-state performer as a senior at Bishop Dwenger High School...two-time all-conference player...selected to play in the 2005 North/South All-Star Game...posted a 15-7 career record with a 1.65 earned run average and 212 strikeouts...earned three varsity baseball letters...high school coach: Larry Windmiller...Personal: Born August 26, 1986...son of Michael and Mary Sokolowski...finance major. |
