Stephen Lisgo Places Third In Steeplechase At Mideast Regional

Junior Stephen Lisgo placed third in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase to highlight the performance of the Butler men's track and field squad on the final day of the NCAA Division I Mideast Regional in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday (May 30). The Bulldogs wound up placing 22nd of 42 teams at the regional meet.

Lisgo finished the steeplechase in 8:42.84, topping the previous Cardinal Park record of 8:49.25. He finished six seconds behind individual winner Corey Thorne of host Louisville and five seconds behind runner-up Josh Karanja of Eastern Michigan. The finish by Lisgo accounted for six of Butler's nine team points in the meet.

The Bulldogs also had two finalists in the men's 1500 meter run. Junior Kris Gauson wound up placing ninth in 3:51.12, while junior Rob Mullett came in 12th in 3:56.09.

Butler wound up third among teams from Indiana in the final team standings, trailing Purdue (10th) and Indiana (16th) while finishing ahead of Notre Dame (25th) and Indiana State (26th).
