Lindsay Martin, who spent the past two years working in the Horizon League office in Indianapolis, has been named Manager of Sports Marketing and Promotions at Butler University. She's filling the position at Butler formerly held by Kara Kovert, who accepted a job with the U. S. Tennis Association/Midwest Section in Indianapolis.
Martin, a 2005 Butler graduate, has served as Administrative Assistant for External Affairs at the Horizon League since August of 2005. She handled a variety of administrative duties for men's basketball, including coordination of community outreach programs. She also supervised the league's merchandise program and provided support for selected league championships.
"We're impressed with Lindsay's experience at the Horizon League and her passion for Butler University and Butler athletics," said Director of Marketing and Corporate Sponsorships Joe Gentry.
In her new position at Butler, Martin will assist in the marketing and promotions efforts for all Butler sports. She'll have responsibilities in corporate sponsorship sales, game promotions, game operations and campus and community outreach.
Prior to her duties at the Horizon League, Martin served internships with the Indianapolis Ice professional hockey team (January-May, 2004), USA Gymnastics (May-August 2004) and Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. (January-May, 2005). She also served as a freelance reporter for the State Journal Register in Springfield, Ill. (December 2000-September 2001). She's been a volunteer at the 2006 USA Track and Field Outdoor National Championship, the 2006 NCAA Final Four, the 2005 and 2006 Big Ten Men's/Women's Basketball Championships, the 2004 FINA World Swimming Championship and the 2005 Solheim Cup.
Martin graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. degree in journalism/public relations from Butler in 2005. She'll begin her duties with Butler's athletic department on May 8.
