A Message From The AD
Dear Alumni and Friends,

The Butler Way . . . is the road to championships!

Forged by our legendary coach and administrator, Tony Hinkle, The Butler Way demands commitment, denies selfishness and accepts reality, yet seeks constant improvement while promoting the good of the team above self. Mr. Hinkle knew that each member's commitment and contributions were vital to the team's success. Each Butler athlete knows the value of dedication to this principal, just as every victory can be linked to those who help to sustain it.

If you believe in The Butler Way as I do, I'd like to let you know about The Bulldog Club -- the best way to support Butler athletics. Your membership directly supports our student athletes in their uncompromising pursuit of athletic and academic excellence. This bold pursuit is possible with the the inspiring generosity of alumni and friends like you. Demonstrate your personal commitment to The Butler Way and our athletes by showing your support for the Bulldog Club today.

Please make your gift to The Bulldog Club Fund by joining The Bulldog Club online using the directions above.

Ensure The Butler Way continues for years to come by joining me as a member in The Bulldog Club.

Thank you for your continued support,

Barry Collier `76

Your gifts during each calendar year may provide you with federal and state income tax benefits:

• If you itemize deductions on your federal income tax return, you may be able to deduct your contribution to Butler from your adjusted gross income. In addition, gifts of appreciated property avoid long term capital gains tax. Check with your tax advisor for deduction and capital gains tax requirements and limitations for your situation.

• Your state may also allow a credit or deduction. For example, Indiana residents can earn a 50 percent state tax credit on a gift to Butler. Gifts up to $200 for single filers and $400 for joint filers are eligible for the tax credit. Use the Indiana College Credit tax form (CC40) to take advantage of this tax credit.

• Internal Revenue Code Section 170(l) provides that only 80 percent of the amount of your donation is eligible for an income tax deduction if the donation entitles you to priority seating for athletic events. All other contributions are eligible for a 100 percent income tax deduction unless otherwise specified in IRS regulations. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why The Bulldog Club?
A: The Bulldog Club allows Butler athletics to meet its goals of graduation, integrity and winning. It also allows Butler to address the rising costs that are associated with competition at the Division I level. Q: Can gifts be restricted to a specific sport?
A: Yes. Any gift to Butler athletics is appreciated, but an annual gift with no restrictions, such as a gift to The Bulldog Club Fund, is preferred. These gifts can be allocated to the greatest need. A: Yes. Any person whose gifts in a Butler fiscal year reach or eclipse the $1,000 mark will be considered a member of OBS.

Q: Are contributions to Butler athletics tax deductible?
A: Yes. Any gift to Butler University is tax deductible. An acknowledgement letter will be sent to you upon receiving your gift and will serve as a receipt of your contribution.

Q: If I give to The Bulldog Club, will I still be solicited for the annual fund and other Butler needs?
A: Yes. The Bulldog Club is just one of the many ways that gifts can be given to Butler.
